EU’s Horizon 2020 Project (Pre-Application Submitted March 2014)

CHNL is a co-applicant of the EU’s Horizon 2020 call – MG.4.2-2014 Safer and more Efficient Waterborne Operations through New Technologies and Smarter Traffic Management. This EU-funded program is a follow-up to previous Framework Programmes (FPs).
The proposed project: “Risk-Informed Ship Design and Operation for Arctic Waters” is led by Aalto University in Finland with several additional partners. The topic will be the risk management of Arctic shipping, especially related to tanker traffic along NSR and cruise ships mostly around Greenland. CHNL’s main contribution to the project is to provide a detailed description and analysis of the current Arctic transportation system on the NSR and suggest needed changes and infrastructure development to manage risks with increased traffic.
